New York Liberty rookie guard Sabrina Ionescu is expected to miss one month of action with an ankle injury, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Saturday.
Ionescu, who was the top overall pick of the 2020 WNBA Draft, sustained the injury in New York's 84-78 setback to the Atlanta Dream on Friday. The Liberty said she has a Grade 3 left ankle sprain and is not expected to require surgery.
Ionescu sustained the injury after stepping on the foot of Atlanta's Betnijah Laney while bringing the ball up the court in the second quarter.
Ionescu finished with 10 points against the Dream after erupting for 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in New York's 93-80 loss to Dallas on Wednesday.
