Second baseman Andres Gimenez and the Cleveland Guardians are finalizing a long-term contract extension, ESPN reported on Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed for Gimenez, a first-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner last season.
Gimenez, 24, batted .297 with 17 homers, 69 RBIs and 20 stolen bases in 146 games in 2022.
"I am aware of expectations for this year," he told Cleveland.com last week. "All I can control is my preparation. Just pay attention to the little things that allow me to have the good results and the kind of year I just had."
Gimenez is hitting .274 with 25 homers, 97 RBIs and 39 stolen bases in 263 career games with the New York Mets (2020) and Guardians.
