The Athletics have signed left fielder/first baseman Tyler Soderstrom to a seven-year, $86 million contract, according to reports by ESPN and MLB.com.

The deal, reported on Thursday, is the most guaranteed money the organization has ever offered up in a contract in franchise history. It also reportedly contains a team option for an eighth season with contract escalators which could make the deal worth as much as $131 million.

Soderstrom, 24, is coming off a breakout in his first full season at the major league level after the Athletics selected him in the first round (26th overall) in the 2020 MLB Draft. He hit .276 in 158 games (145 starts) this season with 23 home runs, 34 doubles, 93 RBIs, 75 runs, a .346 on-base percentage and a .474 slugging percentage.

He played 108 games in left field, 49 at first base and one as designated hitter in 2025 and has a .992 career fielding percentage over three major league seasons.

It's the second significant move of the week for the Athletics, who also acquired infielder/outfielder Jeff McNeil, a former National League batting champion, from the New York Mets on Monday for right-handed pitching prospect Yordan Rodriguez.
